Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) is all set to host the Odisha T20 2024 Cricket League (OCL) from June 30 (Sunday) at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
All the matches will be played at the international stadium from June 30 to July 17 in T20 format, OCA secretary Sanjay Behera told reporters.
A total of six teams have joined this league. The teams participating in the mega sporting event are Odisha Lions, Odisha Tigers, Odisha Jaguars, Odisha Pumas, Odisha Panthers and Odisha Cheetahs.
While Rakesh Patnaik will lead the Odisha Tigers, Cheetahs will be led by Biplab Samantray. The Captain of Odisha Panthers is Sandeep Patnaik. Likewise, Karthik Biswal will lead Pumas and Suryakant Pradhan has been nominated as the captain of Odisha Lions. The captain of Jaguars is Shantanu Mishra.
A total of 33 matches will be played in this league and teams will play 10 matches each, Behera said.
The OCA, like in IPL, has arranged red and green caps for maximum wicket takers and highest run scorers.
Similarly, OCA has implemented DRS and IMPACT PLAYER rules in this league.
The OCA selection committee has selected the promising players of the state and around 40 per cent of new talents who performed well in Kalahandi Cup have joined this league. Three matches will be played every day, Behera said.
If they perform well in this league, they will get an opportunity to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Many new players will come to the fore by playing the T20 format, he maintained.
