Bhubaneswar: After the crime thriller ‘Charitra’ and travel love story ‘Daalcheeni’, Sisir Kumar Sahu and Peenaki Singh Rajput have delved into the family drama genre with ‘Phalguna Chaitra’, whose teaser was released recently.
“The movie basically represents the time period of ‘Phalguna Chaitra’ month as per Hindu calendar which corresponds with February/March in the Gregorian calendar,” director Sisir Kumar Sahu told Odisha Bytes.
The director duo, who are known for visual storytelling, and good cinematography, shot the film in Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Jeypore districts in about 25 days during the rainy season. “The rain was one of the challenges that the whole cast and crew had to face. There was a lot of pressure as we were struggling to complete the outdoor shoots due to weather conditions,” he added.
Sahu added that they have tried to maintain authenticity and freshness, and showcase the typical Odia culture, which people in every household would relate to such as spending time with grandparents during vacations and sitting together with the whole family while eating.
The star cast includes Choudhary Jayprakash Das, Partha Sarathi Ray, BM Baisali, Ananya Mishra, Sukant Rath, Pranab Prasanna Rath, Manisha Manjari Mishra, Kailash Panigrahi, Bhaswati Basu, and Chandan Biswal. While Sakti Jagdev is the producer, the story has been written by Dr Sulagna Mohanty.
‘Phalguna Chaitra’ has five songs, which have been composed by Kaushik, Ehsan, and Abhishek while the lyrics have been penned by JP Wordsmith, Sumit Panda, and Sthitha Pattnaik. Gaurav Anand, Kuldeep Pattanaik, Aisharwya Kumar, Rituraj Mohanty, and Ananya Nanda have lent their voice to the songs.
Talking about the movie actor Partha Ray told Odisha Bytes, ” It is a romantic family drama with deep family bonding. Odia cinemas are proceeding ahead with heavy VFX-driven films, action, comedy, and sci-fi. The core values of a typical Odia family are something that we all miss in today’s life.”
He further said that “Phalguna Chaitra will portray the sacrifice of every family member or our loved ones who stand strong and support each other despite several sufferings. It is a family story narrated in a beautifully poetic way.”
The movie may hit theatres in the month of February or March, Sisir added.
