Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday embarked on a four-day visit to Singapore to attract foreign investments to the state ahead of Utkarsh Odisha: Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2025 scheduled for January.

The CM is leading a high-level delegation on this first international investors’ outreach programme, strategically aligned with the annual Bali Jatra, which commemorates Odisha’s ancient maritime trade with Southeast Asian regions, including Bali, Java, and Sumatra. He is scheduled to address an Investors’ Meet and interact with top functionaries of Singapore-based companies.

Before his departure, the Chief Minister said that the objective is to position the state as a premier destination for global investments. “Odisha is fully prepared for investments. When investors will think about investing in India, Odisha will be the first choice for doing business. We will discuss with the business heads and make them aware of Odisha’s resources and skilled manpower and industrial policy,” he said.

The delegation will also organise a roadshow titled ‘Business Opportunities in Odisha’.

He also spoke about Singapore being popular for chemicals, petrochemicals, green energy,, logistics, financial services, food processing, shipbuilding and semiconductors. “The Odisha team will engage with top executives from these industries to explore investment opportunities,” he said.

A government statement earlier outlined key objectives, including highlighting Odisha’s three operational ports at Dhamra, Paradip, and Gopalpur, which are vital for import-export activities and global trade.

Majhi and his team will engage in a series of high-level meetings and discussions with key officials, including Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs. The delegation will also visit world-class establishments such as the Tuas Port, Jurong Petrochemical Complex, and ITEES Singapore.

Industry minister Sampad Chandra Swain, who is part of the delegation, emphasised that the visit will focus on learning from Singapore’s advanced industrial practices, particularly in technology, manufacturing and skill development.

The CM will also interact with the Odia diaspora in Singapore and neighbouring ASEAN countries to strengthen cultural and economic ties.
