Odisha To Conduct 20K/Day COVID-19 Tests From August

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will be conducting 20,000 COVID-19 tests a day from August.

Speaking to mediapersons, Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, Director Ajay Parida said efforts will be made to ensure that every individual with symptoms undergoes the test.

“We will try to conduct 8,000 RT-PCR while the rest will be Antigen tests. At present, all districts have more than 3000 Antigen kits each,” he said, adding more kits will be provided to them if need be.

Parida further said that the COVID-19 scenario in the state was stable and the number of cases had fallen in some district. “We hope it will improve in August,” he added. 

Meanwhile, COVID-19 tally in Odisha has 31877 with a total of 514573 samples being tested. The virus has so far claimed 177 lives in the state.
