Bhubaneswar: Many parts of Odisha are likely to encounter thunderstorm, hail and gusty surface wind for the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
As a result, there will be no large change in maximum temperature in different parts of the state during the period. The temperature is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at some places during next five days. Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely to prevail in different areas. The MeT Centre advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued Orange Warning about thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph for next 24 hours over Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts.
It issued Yellow Warning for the subsequent four days for several districts. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind were forecast for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Nawarangpur and Malkangiri districts from May 21 to 22.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at some places of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj and Balasore on May 23.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning may occur at some places of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts on May 24.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at some places of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore on May 25.
