Odisha To Have MSME Parks In Every District, Sanctions Rs 450 Cr For Infra Growth
Suggestions Sought From Industry Bodies To Boost Industrialisation
Bhubaneswar: Unfolding plans to set up MSME parks in every district of the state, the Odisha government has asked industry bodies to come forward with suggestions for policy changes to boost industrialisation.
Announcing this, Chief Secretary SC Mahapatra said IDCO has been provided with more than Rs 450 crore for the development of necessary infrastructure in different areas for speedy development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) parks in all the districts to attract entrepreneurs.
Addressing the concluding session of Propack Odisha 2022 and MSME Odisha 2022, organised by the Odisha Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises (OASME) on Sunday, the Chief Secretary said proper infrastructure support including land, electricity and water will be provided to set up units in the proposed MSME parks.
Noting that over 30% growth in finance to MSMEs by banks was witnessed in recent years, Mahapatra said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also held meetings with bankers in this connection.
Speaking at the event, Industries, Energy and MSME Minister PK Deb said the state has put in place all the required infrastructural facilities for promoting industries.
While large and heavy industries are established in Odisha, the state needs more and more units in the MSME sector which can generate jobs and industry bodies should come forward and give suggestions for policy changes to boost industrialisation and improve the overall scenario, he said.
The Government is planning to involve industry bodies for creating awareness and ensuring capacity building for MSMEs to get institutional credit, he said, adding that youths need to take risk and show dynamism instead of seeking support from the Government only.
Principal Secretary, Finance, Vishal Dev asked the banks to ensure availability of necessary finance for MSME sector which acts as an important pillar of economic development. The state government plans to add all public sector banks to trade discounting platforms by the end of this year for the benefit of MSMEs, he added.
