Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved the implementation of the state scheme ‘MAMATA’ jointly with the Central government’s ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’ (PMMVY) from the current financial year.
The scheme, to be named as ‘MAMATA-PMMVY’, will be implemented in the state from April 1, 2025, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said after chairing the Cabinet meeting.
Under the combined scheme, beneficiaries will receive Rs 12,000 for the birth of a girl child and Rs 10,000 for the birth of a boy child. Women from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) will receive Rs 12,000 for a girl child and Rs 10,000 for a boy child for all live births.
It has also been decided to increase the incentive amount for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers to Rs 250 and Rs 150, respectively.
The eligibility criteria for the PMMVY scheme will be applicable to the MAMATA-PMMVY scheme. The state government expects to spend around Rs 2,670 crore on the scheme over the next five years.
