Bhubaneswar: To enhance compliance with vehicular emission norms ahead of stricter enforcement measures, the Odisha Transport Department has announced the statewide rollout of ‘green sticker’ system starting January 10.
The sticker, a visible proof of a vehicle’s valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), will facilitate effective implementation of the upcoming ‘no PUCC, no fuel’ policy at fuel stations, set to take effect from April 1. The ‘tamper-proof, self-adhesive’ sticker will feature a unique serial number and an embedded security hologram for anti-counterfeiting protection.
A detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been prepared to ensure seamless execution, with special counters at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) for vehicles that obtained PUCC before January 10. “For vehicles tested on or after January 10, the stickers will be provided directly by authorised PUC testing centres,” Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur told TOI.
He clarified that the green sticker is not mandatory and vehicle owners will not be charged for it.
“Green sticker is optional and facilitative only. Vehicle owners without the sticker can simply show their valid PUCC during checks. No fines will be imposed for lacking the sticker if a genuine PUCC is produced,” he added.
