Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to implement a revised syllabus for school students in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Announcing this on Saturday, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gon
d said that the new syllabus will be introduced for students from Class 1 to 8. The move aligns the syllabus with the NEP 2020.
He said the new syllabus will be introduced in the 2026-27 academic session.
The new syllabus will place greater emphasis on language, culture, and heritage to promote a deeper understanding of regional traditions and identity.
Clarifying the government’s position on the minimum age for school admissions, the Minister children need to turn six years by September 1 for school admission. However, the central guideline mandates children to complete 6 years by March 1,
Noting that there is a slight variation in rules, the Minister assured that the state’s decision aligns with its educational framework. This development marks a significant step in modernising the education system while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the state.
