Bhubaneswar: The night temperature in Odisha is likely to rise by 2-4°C during the next 2 days and again fall by 2-3°C during the subsequent 3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.
The state has been experiencing chilly weather conditions for the last few days with the mercury plummeting below 10°C at several places. G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest in the last 24 hours at 5.2°C. The only other place to record sub-10°C was Semiliguda in Koraput while Rourkela and Angul recorded 10°C each with Jharsuguda at 10.2°C respectively.
The night temperature fell almost 4°C below normal in Angul.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also recorded below normal temperature of 13.2°C and 12.8°C respectively as against 13.6°C and 12.5°C the previous day.
The weather agency has also forecast dense fog at one or two places in Koraput, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh and Sundargarh districts till January 14 morning. Shallow to moderate fog very may also occur at one or two places in Puri, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada during this period.
The IMD further stated that dense fog engulfed Koraput in the last 24 hours. While Bhubaneswar experienced moderate fog, shallow fog occurred in Koenjhar, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda, it added.
