Odisha Train Accident: Here’s Step By Step Procedure To Get Rly Compensation
Bhubaneswar: The Indian Railways has announced compensation for the families of the deceased and injured persons in the triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2. Here is the step by step procedure to avail the compensation by bonafide beneficiaries.
The Railways has already released the links of the websites having the pictures of the deceased, injured and unidentified bodies. The sites also mention the names and addresses of the hospitals where the bodies have been kept and the inured persons undergoing treatment.

In order to avail the compensation, the families or relatives of the victims have to follow the following steps:
- They have to approach the hospital where the body has been kept or the injured are undergoing treatment as per the Railway list
- They have to furnish the document substantiating their relationship with the victim
- After confirming the claim, the hospital will hand over the body in case of the deceased victim
- At the time of handing over the body, the hospital authorities will issue the discharge certificate
- The family has to apply for compensation by furnishing necessary document along with the discharge certificate
- The compensation would be paid to only the persons having blood relation with the deceased. In case of married couple, if a man is dead, his wife will get the compensation and vice versa.
- The Railways will pay Rs 10 lakh compensation including Rs 50,000 in cash and Rs 9.5 lakh in cheque. Similarly, critically injured persons will get Rs 5 lakh and the people with minor injuries Rs 50,000.
