Odisha Train Accident Toll Rises To 290 As Another Injured Passenger Succumbs At SCBMCH
Cuttack: The toll in the horrific triple train crash in Odisha’s Bahanaga Bazar station rose to 290 after an injured passenger died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Friday, family source informed.
The deceased has been identified as Prakash Ram, a native of Bihar. Hospital officials confirmed his death.
Sources said that the victim was brought to the state-run hospital with severe injuries to head and legs. His health condition was critical and he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
This is the second death in a week in the deadly train accident that took place on June 2. Three days ago, another injured from Bihar had died while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical Colelge and Hospital in Cuttack.
Prakash was critically injured in the three-way accident involving Chennai-bound Coromandel Express from Shalimar, Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and a stationary goods train on June 2. The death toll in the accident earlier stood at 288
However, no official confirmation on the increase in the death toll has been made so far.
At present, several injured passengers are undergoing treatment at SCBMCH and some of them are in the ICU, the sources added.
