Bhubaneswar: After coming alive with head injury from the horrific triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district last week, 35-year-old Dulal Majumdar from Assam turned emotional after he met his father at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Dulal, who hails from Kabri Anglong district of Assam, was rescued from beneath thick bush almost 48 hours after the deadly accident, is recovering at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. His father Subash Majumder reached Bhubaneswar and met his son with coordination from AIIMS officials.
After being brought to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on June 5 morning, Dulal was admitted with traumatic brain injury with frontal contusion and subdural Hematoma. He was initially conscious but confused. The patient was kept under close observation with medications. However, as there was clinical deterioration and increase in brain swelling and masse effect on repeat scan, patient was taken for surgery, an AIIMS release said.
Decompressive craniectomy and Hematoma evacuation was done and the patient improved following surgery and was weaned off from ventilator and extubated. Dulal is now stable and shifted to ward and is able to speak. He recognised his father who has reunited with him today.
All treatment was provided free of cost and patient is responding well to treatment.
The patient’s condition was very bad when he was admitted here. His condition improved substantially after surgery and now he is stable, said a doctor.
Thanking the hospital authorities and others, Dulal’s father said he feels humbled by all the efforts made by people for his son’s treatment. He said he could reunite with his son because of the initiatives of the hospital authorities and media fraternity who coordinated and helped him.
