Bhubaneswar: A medical student who had returned from Ukraine is the latest victim of cyber fraud in the city.
According to the victim Faraz, a final-year medical student, he fell prey to cyber fraud while seeking a job online. The student had reportedly deposited a some money for teaching job at a private organisation.
Faraz told local media channels that he had deposited Rs 2,500 as registration fee but after receiving the money, the organisation didn’t respond to his calls or contacted him for the classes which led him to doubt the credentials of the organisation.
Faraz has been teaching junior MBBS students for the last three years while in Ukraine. He used to teach Social Science, Science and Biology subjects so applied for online teaching through online job portal.
He received a notification from onlinetutorme.com, who he claimed to have duped him. After non-communication from the website, he decided to lodge a complaint with Bhubaneswar cyber police.”
