Odisha Vigilance Apprehends Senior Revenue Assistant While Taking Bribe

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended a Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000.

The accused has been identified as Prasanta Kumar Rout, post at Damapada tehsil in Cuttack district.

According to a Vigilance release, this was the first instalment of Rs 12,500 which he had demanded from the complainant to issue certified copies of orders in mutation cases. The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from him.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Rout to ascertain whether he has accumulated asset disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A case has been registered against him at Cuttack Vigilance police station under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is underway, it added.
