Bhubaneswar: Vigilance on Sunday arrested Assistant Engineer of Sunabeda Municipality in Odisha’s Koraput, Manoj Kumar Patra for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
On Friday, Vigilance sleuths had raided the properties of Patra at six places in Khurda, Gajapati and Koraput districts. During the raids, they unearthed properties worth over Rs 2 crore in the name of the assistant engineer.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at following places:
1) Residential flat No.102, Block A-2, 1st Floor Kokila Palace (Phase-1) Apartment, Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar
2) Doublestorey building at Plot No.900, Shakti Nagar, 4th Lane, Berhampur
3) House at native place lB.Sitapur, Paralakhemundi.
4) Residential building of relative at Chandraprabha Street 2nd Lane, Berhampur.
5) Residential quarter at Sunabeda Municipality Colony, Sunabeda.
6) Office chamber at Municipality office, Sunabeda.
ASSETS UNEARTHED
1) Cash to the tune of Rs 28.61 lakh
2) Gold jewellery approx 369.10 gms and silver jewellery approx 288.51 gms worth over Rs.11.44 lakh.
3) One 3 BHK flat at Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar worth about Rs.80 lakh.
4) Double-storey building at Berhampur worth about Rs.50.57 lakh as per preliminary estimate.
5) 7 plots, including one at Bhubaneswar and 3 plots each in Berhampur and Koraput. Undervaluation is suspected during registration.
6) Fixed deposits, Bank, Insurance and Postal deposits over Rs.40 lakh.
7) Household articles worth over Rs.16.59 lakh.
8) One Hyundai Venue car worth Rs.12.88 lakh.
9) 2 two-wheelers (Honda Unicorn worth Rs.1,10,000 & TVS Jupiter worth Rs. 59,500).
Investigation of the case is in progress, an official release said.
