Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested junior manager (Civil), BCD-II, Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco), Bhubaneswar, Bijay Kumar Udaysingh, after detecting huge assets acquired by him which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Based on searches conducted on properties of Udaysingh, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 1 four storeyed palatial building worth over Rs.3.22 crore, 1 flat, 3 high value plots, deposits over Rs 55.5 lakh, cash Rs 4.5 lakh, etc, which he could not explain satisfactorily, Vigilance said in a release.
Following this, the Idco junior manager was placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance and will be forwarded to court for possession of disproportionate assets, it said.
According to Vigilance sources, simultaneous house searches were conducted by a team led by 8 DSPs, 8 inspectors and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge,Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, at 6 places in Bhubaneswar (Khurda) and Puri.
The assets unearthed in the name of Udaysingh and his family members are as follows:
1. A four-storey building over 7500 sqft area at Arya Vihar, under Rajarani Mouza, Bhubaneswar, worth over Rs.3.22 crore.
2. A flat on the 4th floor under Balukhanda Mouza, Puri district.
3. Three high-value homestead plots (two in Bhubneswar & 1 in Khurda)
4. Bank deposits amounting to Rs 33 lakh.
5. Rs.4.50 lakh in cash.
6. one two-wheeler.
Measurement and valuation/assessment of flat/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing. Other deposits and investments are also being ascertained.
Raids were earlier carried out at these following places:
1. Residential house at Arya Vihar, under Rajarani Mouza, Bhubaneswar.
2. A flat at Balukhanda Mouza, Puri district.
3. Parental house at Mundamba village, Jankia, Khurda district.
4. His office at Idco, Bhubaneswar.
5. A crusher at his native village Mundamba, Jankia, Khurda.
6. House of his relative at Samantarapur, Bhubaneswar.
