Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Chief Construction Engineer, Lower Suktel, Balangir, Sunil Kumar Rout, for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of 257%.
The Vigilance teams have detected disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees, which included two multi-storey buildings in Bhubaneswar, 3 flats in Puri and Mathura, 34 plots, a farm house, 1 kg gold, deposits worth over Rs 2.84 crore and another Rs 2.34 lakh in cash, one truck, 2 benami four-wheelers (Creta & Thar) and 4 two-wheelers.
“After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Rout were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 257% in excess of his known sources of income,” the official release said.
ASSETS UNEARTHED
1) A triple-storey building at Niladri Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
2) A double-storey at Nilakantha Nagar, Nayapali, Bhubaneswar.
3) 2-BHK Flat (ground floor), Block-J, Sikhetra Bhakta Niwas, Dolamandapsahi, Puri.
4) 1-BHK Flat, Krishnadhham Apartment, VIP road, Puri.
5) 2-BHK Flat at MK A 76, Chandrodayo Mandir, Chhatikara Road, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
6) A farm house over 8 acre at Saptasajya, Dhenkanal, with a 2-storey building, a poultry farm with about 1000 chicks/ducks, and 1 cow shed with 70 cows/calves.
7) 34 plots (5 in Bhubaneswar, 3 in Puri, 19 in Cuttack, 7 in Dhenkanal).
8) Premium deposits worth Rs.1.86 crore in various insurance companies.
9) Bank deposits worth Rs 98.11 lakh.
10) Rs 2,34,120 in cash
11) Gold ornaments weighing 1 kg (762.45 gram recovered from locker) and 500 gram silver.
12) A truck (TATA LPT), 2 benami four-wheelers (Hyundai Creta & Mahindra Thar) & 4 two-wheelers.
