Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Jeypore Block & in-charge Municipal Engineer, Jeypore Municipality, Biswanath Patro, accused of accumulating disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees.
During the raids on Tuesday, he was found in possession of two multi-storey buildings, including a triple-storey at Jeypore town worth around Rs 1.55 crore, 18 plots, deposits over Rs 1.01 crore, 854 gram gold, and 1.8 Kg of silver 1.8 kg, he could not account for satisfactorily, a Vigilance release said.
Assets detected in the names of Patro and his family members are as follows:
1. A triple-storey building over 7,200 sqft area at Jeypore town.
2. One double-storey building over 3,400 sqft area at Koli Sahi, Belaguntha, Ganjam.
3. 18 plots – 6 in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, one each in Jeypore town and Berhampur town and 10 at Jagannathprasad, Ganjam.
4. Bank & insurance deposits amounting to Rs 1,01,00,210.
5. Gold jewellery weighing 854 grams & 1.8 kg of silver ornaments
6. Cash, 2 two wheelers & household articles worth around Rs.7.70 lakh.
Patro joined as adhoc assistant engineer in 2011 with monthly remuneration of 14,000. In 2016, he cleared the OPSC exam and was given regular appointment as AEE.
The raids were conducted at these following places:
1) Triple-storey building located at Jeypore .
2) Two-storey building at Paternal land Koli Sahi, Belaguntha, Ganjam.
3) Office chamber of Patro at Jeypore block.
4) His office chamber at Jeypore Municipality.
5) Office chamber of his spouse at DIET, Jeypore.
6) House of his relative located at Niladri Vihar (Patia), Bhubaneswar.
