Odisha Vigilance Arrests Police Constable With Rs 6 Lakh Unaccounted Cash In Boudh
Bhubaneswar: A team of Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested a police constable after seizing Rs six lakh cash from his possession in Baghiapada area in Boudh district on Wednesday.
Acting on reliable information, Vigilance officials intercepted constable of District Voluntary Force (DVF) Harish Chandra Sahu near Baghiapada outpost under Boudh Town Police Station. Suspected ill-gotten cash amounting to Rs six lakh was found in his possession.
As Sahu could not satisfactorily account for the huge cash found in his possession, the amount was recovered from him and seized. Following the interception, simultaneous searches are being carried out at three locations of Sahu from DA angle, a Vigilance release said.
The constable is being examined to ascertain the source of funds. Reliable inputs were received that Sahu, being a member of the DVF squad, was collecting bribe money from ganja dealers, cultivators and traders to facilitate their ganja trade. Based on these inputs a watch was kept on his movements, following which he was nabbed, the release added.
