Odisha Vigilance Arrests Revenue Official Possessing Assets 201% More Than Income
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested Senior Revenue Assistant Rama Chandra Sen, posted in the office of Sub-Collector at Baripada, for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 201% of his known sources of income.
Sen was arrested a day after Vigilance sleuths carried out simultaneous searches at his properties on Saturday and unearthed huge assets including two multi-storeyed buildings, 15 plots and Rs 40 lakh deposits. He failed to account for the assets amassed by him satisfactorily, Vigilance sources said.
In this connection, a case has been registered against Sen, his spouse and two sons under section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018.
During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Sen and his family members:
1) A palatial triple storeyed building of area over 13277 Sqft. at Raghunathganj, Kuliana, Dist-Mayurbhanj worth over Rs.2 crore
2) A four storeyed building of area approx 6350 Sqft at village Padhiaripur, Kuliana, Dist-Mayurbhanj
3) 15 Plots in prime area of Baripada Town, Kuliana, Samakhunta & Bangiriposi of Mayurbhanj district were found
4) Bank & Insurance deposits over Rs 40 lakh
5) 3 four wheelers (Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai i-20, Maruti EECO) worth Rs.20.50 lakhs
6) 4 two wheelers.
7) Cash, gold jewellery and household articles worth over Rs 30.55 lakh
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sen were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 201% in excess of his known sources of income. Investigation of the case is in progress.
