Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Remuna Tehsildar Bidyadhar Pati for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During the searches on Tuesday, the Vigilance sleuths had unearthed 3 high-value flats (2 flats worth Rs 2.5 crore in Bhubaneswar and one in Balasore), one plot each in Bhubaneswar and Balasore, gold weighing 937 gram and Rs 1.12 crore worth deposits, the source of which he could not explain satisfactorily, an official release said.
The raids were carried out in flats in Bhubaneswar’s Sailashree Vihar, Rudrapur and Dumduma and in Balasore’s Kuruda, Soro, and Pati’s office in Remuna. A car and two bikes were also seized.
Six deputy superintendents of police, three inspectors and 10 assistant sub-inspectors were part of the search operation, which was launched following an order from the Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar.
