Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Satya Priya Nayak, a Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) at Athamallick Tehsil Office in Angul district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
Vigilance said the complainant had approached Nayak to process an application for partitioning paternal land among sons and to facilitate the issuance of separate Record of Rights (RORs) for the shareholders. Despite repeated requests, Nayak refused to initiate the process and instead demanded the bribe.
The complainant reported the incident to the Vigilance sleuths, who promptly swung into action. Accordingly, the sleuths laid a trap and caught Nayak while he was about to deposit the bribe money into his account through an ATM machine.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Nayak.
A case has been registered at Cuttack Vigilance PS (Case No. 7/2025) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is underway against Nayak.
