Baripada: President Droupadi Murmu, who is scheduled to attend a series of official programmes in Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur districts during her 3-day visit to Odisha, arrived in Baripada town in a special chopper of the Indian Air Force on Monday.
Murmu was received by Governor of Odisha Raghubar Das on her arrival at Baripada Police Reserve Fields, following which, she headed towards Saheed Smruti Bhawan to grace the inaugural session of the 36th Annual Conference and Literary Festival of All India Santali Writers’ Association.
She will later inaugurate an Eklavya Model Residential School at Kuliana.
On November 21, the President will inaugurate a skill training centre at Pahadpur village. Subsequently, she will visit Badampahar railway station, where she will flag off three new trains (BadampaharTatanagar MEMU, Badampahar-Rourkela Weekly Express and Badampahar-Shalimar Weekly Express), inaugurate new Rairangpur postal division, release a commemorative cover of Rairangpur postal division and lay the foundation stone for redevelopment of Badampahar railway station.
She will also travel from Badampahar to Rairangpur in Badampahar-Shalimar Express. She will attend the 15th annual convocation of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, later in the evening.
On November 22, Murmu will launch the National Education Campaign-New Education for New India, organised by Brahma Kumaris at Sambalpur before flying to Puttaparthi in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh to attend the 42nd convocation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, according to a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.
This is her second visit to her home district Mayurbhanj after becoming the President.
