Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday issued the criteria for alternative assessment of the examinees of the Higher Secondary Examination, 2021, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a press note by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, scores will be awarded to the regular examinees in Theory Papers/Theory Components of papers on basis of the performance of the examinee in the Class X Board examination. Detailed subject mapping has been prepared on the basis of recommendations of an expert committee formed by the state government, it said.

An examinee, who is not satisfied with the result declared on the basis of Alternative Assessment Criteria, can appear in the examination in the offline mode when the situation becomes conducive and necessary clearance is obtained from the government. The result of the same examination will be final and binding on the examinee, it added.

The results will be declared in the second week of August.

ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR REGULAR EXAMINEES

Practical/Proiect

The examinees will be asked to submit their practical records/project report with their concerned Head of the Department (HOD) in the higher secondary school within a period of 10 days from the date of issue of necessary instructions by the CHSE avoiding congregation and following COVID-19 guidelines issued by Govt. from time to time. The examinees, who can’t come to their School/College because of the lockdown situation, may send the same to their concerned Head of the Department in the school/college address by registered parcel. However, in case any examinee’s home or school comes under a containment zone, time relaxation will be provided under necessary approval.

The internal examiner(s) of the school will award scores for the practical component basing on i) the practical records, ii) performance of the examinee in the regular laboratory work experiments in the practical classes and iii) performance of the examinee in Class X Board examination. All necessary inputs will be provided by the School to the internal examiners.

The practical scores awarded by the internal examiner(s) will be verified and corrected by the HOD of the department concerned. ln case of a single man department, the Practical scores awarded by the internal examiner are to be re-checked and corrected by him/her before submission.

The internal examiner(s) for the project works will award scores for the project component basing on (i) the project report submitted by the examinee, and (ii) the performance of the examinee in the Class X board examination. All necessary inputs will be provided by the higher secondary schools to the internal examiners. The project scores awarded by the internal examine(s) will be rechecked and corrected by the H.O.D/lnternal Examiner(s) in case of a single man department.

Practical/project scores will be awarded and re-checked by the internal examiner(s) and HOD keeping in view the average range of practical/project scores of the same institution in the relevant paper during the last three years and scores shall be allotted to each examinee in a graded manner under the supervision of the Principal. For this purpose, each department with practical is required to prepare a table with the range of marks and number of examinees against each range for the last three years as per instructions of CHSE.

lf any examinee fails to submit the practical/project records in due time, no score will be awarded in practical/project at the school level and the same will be reported to CHSE. ln such cases, the proportionate score will be awarded in practical/project by CHSE taking into account the score awarded in the theory component of the paper concerned.

THEORY:

i. Score of a paper of Class X Board examination will move directly to the paper of Class-Xll of CHSE after necessary conversion out of maximum marks and rounding off to the next whole number in case of the decimal figure. ln case, none of the MIL/Language Papers of Class X has been taken at CIass-Xll, the then highest score in the MIL/Language Paper, irrespective of the MIL/Language Paper, will be the MIL score in Class-Xll. The scores in Optional Language Papers will be awarded in the same line as that of MIL paper.

ii. Average of the scores of the papers of Class X Board examination will be awarded in the paper of CIass-Xll of CHSE, in case the paper of Class-Xll of CHSE is related to more than one paper of 10th Board, after necessary conversion out of maximum marks and rounding off to the next whole number in case of the decimal figure.

iii. Average of best two scores of Mathematics, Science and Social Science of Class X Board examination will be awarded in the elective paper of Class-Xll of CHSE, in case the elective paper of Class-Xll of CHSE doesn’t have any relation with any paper after necessary conversion out of maximum marks and rounding off to the next whole number in case of decimal figure.

Accordingly, the paper-wise subject mapping and calculation procedure has been prepared.
