Berhampur: A video of a baby being delivered under cellphone light and candles at Polsara Community Health Centre (CHC) following a power outage on Monday night, has gone viral on social media.
According to sources, the doctors at the health centre were forced to treat the patient, using cellphone torches and candles, when the light went out due to an untimely power cut during the delivery. “We were left with no option but to treat the patient under cellphone torch as we don’t have a generator at the CHC,” said doctor Pranjya Prathama.
The doctor further said that the patient was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, but the family requested them to continue the treatment here.”We had to treat both the mother and the newborn within the limited healthcare facilities at the CHC,” she added.
