Malkangiri: A woman from Malkangiri district has undergone a sex-change operation to marry her girlfriend.
According to reports, the two women were in a relationship for three years and decided to get married. One of them then decided to become a ‘man’ before the dream wedding. The families of the two women also gave their consent to and supported the decision.
Accordingly, the woman went for gender reassignment — a surgical procedure that changes a person’s sexual structure in terms of appearance and function — in New Delhi on July 3, 2019.
Finally by July 10, ‘she’ attained the new identity of a man. It took him around six months to recuperate from the surgery. All this time, the couple bided time for their dream wedding.
Their dream finally came true earlier this week.
