Hyderabad/Bhubaneswar: A 26-year-old woman from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district was killed in Hyderabad after being hit by a luxury car. The Aston martin involved in the crash was allegedly being driven by the son of an Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP.
The deceased has been identified as Bharati Mukhi, who was reportedly working at a shopping mall in Hyderabad.
According to information, the accident took place on August 16 when Bharati was crossing a road in front of a mall in Madhapur area.
The Aston Martin that hit her was allegedly being driven by Lingamaneni Sanjush, son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh.
Following the crash, Bharati suffered grievous injuries. She was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, doctors declared her dead.
The incident has sparked concern among the Odia community, with details of the accident now being investigated by Hyderabad Police.
Based on a complaint lodged by the mall authorities, police reportedly seized the vehicle involved in the accident and initiated an investigation. A case has also been registered against Sanjush in connection with the incident.
Sources said Madhapur Police registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation.
Police conducted drunk-driving and drug tests on the accused and collected his blood samples, which were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. The vehicle involved in the accident was also seized.
Further investigation is underway and police are awaiting the post-mortem examination (PME) report,
