Bhubaneswar: After arresting con woman Hansita Abhilipsa and her accomplice for duping wealthy people by claiming close ties with top bureaucrats and politicians, Odisha Police are thoroughly probing the case carefully to unravel all her evil deeds.
While probe by police is underway, many interesting facts about the 38-year-old and her accomplice Anil Mohanty are now coming to light. The two reportedly posed as the daughter and son-in-law of P K Mishra, principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and defrauded several builders, mine owners, and businessmen for cores of rupees in Bhubaneswar.
The duo allegedly indulged in blackmailing over commission in the name of getting crores of rupees of CSR funds from different sources for NGOs. It is being claimed by some that Hansita enjoyed the blessings and support of a former Minister and maintained her influence from Narla in Odisha’s Kalahandi to New Delhi. Police are also stated to be moving cautiously as the woman reportedly enjoyed the backing of politicians and top bureaucrats.
Sources said Hansita had also ventured into politics after higher education. However, due to greed and desire for making easy money, she entered a dubious world of crime. It is alleged that she even deserted her husband and son in her journey to make a fast buck. In order to become a high-ranking person, she changed her name from Bishnupriya Chand to Hansita Abhilipsa. In the meantime, she had reportedly become the owner of a farmhouse in Gurugram. She owned an expensive luxury car, an expensive flat in Bhubaneswar and lived in royal style.
Her father Ashok Chand had got married a second time to take care of Hansita, who had lost her mother when she was a child. Since she loved reading, he sent her to Ramadevi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar for higher education. She was married to the son of a professor from the Berhampur area as per Vedic rituals. They have a son. Now the son is living with his father. Since Hansita’s relative was a Minister, she initially jumped into politics. Her father was also a leader of a national party.
In 2017, Hansita won as a samiti member from Narla. Her father Ashok also won the panchayat samiti polls. Later, Hansita contested for the post of block vice-chairperson but lost to the present MLA’s husband Durga Prasad Mohanty. Though Hansita got only four votes, her influence remained intact. She was accused of extorting lakhs of rupees from locals by promising to get dealership and jobs. When people repeatedly came to her house seeking their money back, Hansita left Narla in 2018 and moved to the capital city. Her father later returned money to everyone with great difficulty.
After coming to Bhubaneswar, Hansita never looked back and worked hard to rise to the top using her higher education and her beauty. First, she worked hard to reduce her weight from 108 kg. She lost weight by undergoing surgery in Delhi. Then she opened a VLCC centre in Bhubaneswar. From there, Hansita’s new chapter began. She changed her name and created a new identity. She was not known by one name. She also identified herself as Harshapriya Mishra, claiming to be a relative of Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary PK Mishra. She visited the capital’s star hotels, bars, and clubs.
Around that time, Anil came in contact with her. After meeting Anil at a club in the capital four years ago, their relationship grew. Both of them decided to live together. Anil had been fired from his job on charges of cheating while working in various organizations. After joining hands with Hansika, they trapped rich businessmen and mine operators and looted crores of rupees.
Police are now trying to ascertain the number of people the two have cheated. Special Crime Unit is investigating the case and the mobile phones of the two have sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) for thorough examination. Their three bank accounts are being checked, while PAN cards have also been sent to various banks, sources said.
