Thiruvananthapuram: There’s no stopping the Odisha women’s cricket team. They beat Jharkhand by 16 runs in a curtailed game on Friday to notch up their fourth win in as many matches in the BCCI Senior Women’s T20 meet.
Odisha, who had beaten Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Tripura earlier, have a great chance of qualifying from Elite Group B. They will face Tamil Nadu in their final league match on Sunday.
Opting to bat first after the match at Greenfield Stadium was delayed by about an hour, Odisha did well to score 106 for 3 in their allotted 12 overs, riding on Kajal Jena’s 39 off 22 balls (8 fours, 1 six) and Sarita Meher’s unbeaten 28 off 18 deliveries (4 fours).
In reply, Jharkhand were restricted to 90 for 7. Sujata Mallick and Priyanka Priyadarshini were Odisha’s stand-out bowlers, bagging 2/19 and 2/16, respectively, in 3 overs each.
Scores: Odisha 106/3 in 12 overs. Jharkhand 90/7 in 12 overs.
Result: Odisha won by 16 runs.
