Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) on Monday issued notice to OTV managing director (MD) Jagi Mangat Panda in connection with the gang rape of a minor girl in the city.
She has been asked to appear before the commission at 11 am on September 21.
“Based on the complaint of the survivor’s mother, we have summoned Jagi Mangat Panda to appear in person before the commission,” said OSCW chairperson Dr Minati Behera.
A couple a day ago an audiotape, which was a supposedly a telephonic conversation between the OTV MD and the minor girl rape victim’s mother, had gone viral.
On September 10, the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) had sought reply from the MD on this matter within 48 hours.
The girl’s mother, who was working as a receptionist in the channel, had earlier lodged a complaint with the OSCPCR.
In the complaint, the woman had alleged that seven persons, including two employees and two security men of the news channel, and a policeman of Rourkela gang-raped her 13-year-old daughter in her house for 15 days. They had even threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
