Bhubaneswar: Amid the raging brouhaha over the death of BJD Zilla Parishad member Dharmendra Sahoo, Odisha Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Sunday lashed out at the opposition parties and asked them to refrain from doing politics over the dead.
With the opposition BJP and Congress alleging Dash’s involvement in the case and demanding his resignation to pave way for an impartial probe, the School and Mass Education Minister rejected the charge as baseless.
Stating that he was shocked after the incident occurred under his Zilla Parishad zone, Dash said he has also paid tribute to the departed soul.
Coming down heavily on the opposition political parties, the Minister said they are trying to play politics over the dead and they must stop such tactics. “The noise being made by the opposition will have no outcome,” he said.
Accusing the opposition of having no links with the people, Dash said they never bothered to extend their helping hands to the people during the COVID pandemic. People have no faith in them and they do not care about the false allegations being levelled by them, the minister said at Nimapada.
The leaders and workers of the BJP on Saturday staged a demonstration in Bhubaneswar demanding an investigation into the role of Dash in the death of the ZP member of BJD. Congress has also demanded probe by a court-monitored SIT.
The ZP member of Nimapada Zone 11 in Puri district was found hanging at his residence in Sishupalgarh area of Bhubaneswar on September 24.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has intensified its probe into the viral audio clip of the deceased Zilla Parishad member.
