Bhubaneswar: Anupama Swain has made Odisha proud by winning the silver medal at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship held in Thailand.
Competing in the 52 kg Contact fight category, Anupama showcased exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. She put up a spirited performance in the final but had to settle for a silver medal after being narrowly defeated by a Ukrainian player.
Her journey to the world stage began after she clinched a gold medal at the National Jiu-Jitsu Championship, earning her selection to represent India at this prestigious international event.
The Odisha Jujitsu Association congratulated Anupama for her outstanding performance and for bringing international recognition to Odisha’s growing martial arts community. “Anupama’s success is a proud moment for all of us. Her dedication and hard work have placed Odisha on the global Jiu-Jitsu map. We will continue to support and encourage our athletes to reach even greater heights, said her coach Dr Hariprasad Pattanayak.
The Association also expressed gratitude to the Odisha’s Sports and Youth Services Department, Ju Jitsu Federation and support staff, who contributed to Anupama’s success, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing young talent in the field of martial arts.
