Odisha’s Art & Craft On Display In Bahrain Under GOI’s One District, One Product Programme

Bhubaneswar: After Rajasthan, Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan, now Odisha’s rich art and crafts are on display at the Embassy of India in Bahrain.

The art and handicrafts of Odisha are being showcased under Government of India’s One District, One Product (ODOP) programme and will be on display for two months in the art gallery of the Embassy.

Inaugurating the show, India’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Vinod K Jacob said Odisha’s handicrafts are coveted and attractive. He gave his speech in Odia and praised the products from the state while also lauding the Bahrain Odia Samaj for helping organise the exhibition.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a self-reliant India is an important achievement and the rural artisans of Odisha have perfectly translated it through their handicrafts,” Dr Arun Kumar Praharaj, founder chairman of Bahrain Odia Samaj told media.

The products on display at the Embassy include Tarakasi work of Cuttack, Dhokra art of Dhenkanal, Bandhkala of Sambalpur, tribal products of Mayurbhanj, Singha work of Ganjam among others.
