Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to make a mark in the Femina Miss India pageant with five girls from the state selected for the contest. They will compete for the Top-31 on the virtual platform. The stage that gave India some international models and superstars has gone online this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. A unique experience for the organizers as well as the contestants, all sessions are being conducted online from the comfort of the participant’s home.

The Top-5 from each State were selected through an interview by a panel of judges from varied fields.

We spoke to one of the contestants from Odisha’s Balangir – Subhashree Rayaguru. A lawyer and anchor, model, actor and extremely confident of bagging the crown.

The daughter of a Special Judicial Magistrate, she aspires to work for the empowerment of young and women of her home district, Balangir. “The district has several talents and is rich in art and culture but it fails to draw the much-needed national attention due to lack of promotion and marketing,” she says.

Towards fulfilling this dream for her district and promoting the art and culture at the national-level, she is working on starting an NGO and using her professional expertise and knowledge to bring in investors/promoters.

Her goals sound to be in tune with this year’s moto of – Original, optimistic and online.

Talking about participating in a virtual contest, she says it’s a new experience and has its own positives and negatives. The organisers have put in all efforts to give the best of experience to the contestants by conducting online training for every attribute for becoming a polished model, she said.

From ramp walk to communication skills and personality traits and social media skills, they are being trained in all the abilities, Subhashree said.

To participate in the pageant, all aspiring participants needed to create a minimum of three videos on the platform. By hosting the audition process on Roposo App.

With social media playing a major role in the selection of the contestants, Subhashree has sought support from her home state. The lanky girl from Balangir said all the sessions will be online and will be available for viewing, so one can download Roposo and Glance apps to view their sessions and support them. The contestants can also be followed and liked on their Instagram and Facebook pages.
