Odisha: Women From All Walks Of Life Join The War Against Corona By Stitching Masks
Bhubaneswar: To encourage people to make economical masks at home, Odisha IAS couple Arabinda K Padhee and Usha Padhee took to Twitter to share some pictures of home-sewn face masks.
In the pictures, the IAS officer’s wife is seen stitching face masks using traditional handloom fabric.
Padhee also shared a picture of himself wearing a mask made by his wife.
The IAS officer also encouraged denizens to take part in the Mask India movement by preparing masks for themselves at home and sparing the surgical and N-95 masks for the healthcare workers.
As the Odisha government has made it compulsory for people to wear masks while stepping out of the house, the demand for surgical and N-95 masks has increased in the state.
Earlier, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan too had posted a picture of his wife and daughter, who were sitting on the floor and making face masks at home for family members and for others in need of the masks.
Along with the picture, he tweeted, “We should all try and do our bit for society in these difficult times. Proud of my wife Mridula and daughter Naimisha who are making safety masks for all of us at home, and also for others who need it. No better time to hone your skills and learn new ones.”
BJP Lok Sabha MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo from Odisha’s Balangir constituency shared a picture on Twitter on Thursday in which she was seen stitching masks on a sewing machine.
“Doing my bit for the nation! Making masks for ourselves and for others who need it,” she tweeted along with the picture.
