Bhubaneswar: The Chandaka-Dampara Elephant Sanctuary on outskirts of the city will reopen for the visitors amid COVID-19 restrictions on October 2.
The wildlife reserve will be opened for public under certain restrictions in view of rapid spread of COVID-19..
According to Chandaka DFO Kedarnath Swain, the visitors will be allowed to enter the sanctuary through Chandaka-Godibari main gate. They have to follow the COVID-19 norms of using masks and maintaining social distancing inside the reserve forest. Adequate number of security personnel will be deployed to enforce the regulations, he added.
He further said all arrangements including accommodation and food have been made for the convenience of the visitors.
The sanctuary had remained closed to the public since March 27 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Spread over an area of 193.39 square km in the North-Eastern Ghat of biotic region, the sanctuary is known for successful conservation of elephants.
