Odisha’s First Rock Garden To Open To Public Within A Week In Berhampur

Berhampur: Over six months after being inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the much-awaited rock garden in Berhampur city is all set to be thrown open to the public within a week.

Giving this information, vice-chairman of Berhampur Development Authority (BeDA) J Sonal told media that all arrangements have been made and the necessary approval for opening to the unique rock garden to the public had been obtained.

A date will soon be finalised for the opening of the attractive garden and a host of dignitaries, including local representatives, will be invited to the event which will take place in the south Odisha city within a week, he said.

With this, the silk city is going to add another landmark for people, bringing cheer among them. Locals said they have been eagerly waiting to visit the garden ever since it was inaugurated by the Chief Minister in March, this year.

Located in Ambapua area, the unique rock garden with sculptures, carvings, walkways and watercourses, lawns will be one of its kind in the entire state. Visitors to the garden can also enjoy delicious food at the food plaza.

Set up at a cost of over Rs ten crore, the rock garden is getting the final touches. It will also have a fountain, dry fountain for children, pathway, cycle track, waterfall, open air auditorium and other attractions.

Constructed by BeDA on an area of nine acres, the garden has been undergoing major beautification and development after being inaugurated, sources said.
