Odisha’s First Woman IPS Officer To Get President’s Medal For Distinguished Service

 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s first woman Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer Soumya Mishra is among the 102 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service (PSM) awardees.

A 1994-batch IPS officer of Telangana cadre, Mishra is now the Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Telangana.

On the eve of 75th Republic Day, President Draupadi Murmu approved President’s Medals for Distinguished Service (PSM) to 94 in Police Service, four in Fire Service, and four in Civil Defence and Home Guard Service, official sources said.

Born in Odisha’s Cuttack, Mishra has also served as the Additional DG, Fire Services and Home Guards. She has also served in the Home Department in Odisha during an inter-cadre deputation from Telangana.

Mishra has done her PhD in Sociology and Master’s in Police Management.
