Odisha’s Innovative Transport Solutions Lauded By Telangana & Punjab Officials
Bhubaneswar: Odisha has established itself as a successful model in the field of transport services through innovative measures and delegations from Telangana and Punjab are on a visit to the state.
They have engaged in discussions with senior officials of our state’s Transport Department on various topics. Notably, they have been apprised of the modern professional skills that have been effectively implemented in Odisha’s transport sector, an official release said on Wednesday.
Detailed discussions were held with the delegations from both states, with the presence of State Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur and other senior officials. The topics included modernization of transport services, road safety, e-governance, and the successful implementation of the VAHAN and SARATHI systems. The discussions also covered Odisha’s efficient enforcement management and traffic management systems. A report on the various measures, effectiveness, and impact undertaken by the State Transport Authority was presented.
The steps taken by Odisha in the areas of transport services and road safety have greatly impressed the representatives from both states. They have highly praised the state government for its efforts. During the discussions, topics such as electric vehicles, IDTR, SuVahak, IEMS, e-challan, automated driving testing system and paperless DLs were also discussed. The delegations learned about the identification of reckless drivers through IEMS and the functioning of the command and control center.
Odisha’s efficient heavy motor vehicle training center, automated driving testing centers, 24-hour toll-free service, and the command and control center monitoring vehicle activities on the road have attracted other states. The delegations were keen to understand these systems. Similarly,
Odisha officials inquired about the successful systems in place in those states. Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur stated that efforts are being continued to improve road safety in Odisha. He expressed that the delegations’ visit and appreciation of Odisha’s model have been encouraging.
