New Delhi: It was India’s day out at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship at Urgench in Uzbekistan, as athletes won medals for the country.
Odisha’s Jhilli Dalabehera lifted 166kg to clinch silver in the 48 kg category while while Sneha Soren bagged bronze after lifting 145 kg.
India’s Jeremy Lalrinnunga also bagged a silver in the 56 kg category after registering his best total of 250 kg. He created two national records while lifting 250kg.
Adding another medal, Sidhant Gogoi, won bronze medal with a lift of 243 kg.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the girls through a tweet.
“Congratulations to Jhilli Dalbehera & Sneha Soren on winning silver in 48kg Junior & bronze in 48kg Youth categories respectively at Youth & Junior Asian Weightlifting Championship 2018 in Uzbekistan. The champions from Odisha are inspiration for all. My best wishes to them,” he tweeted.
