Bhawanipatna: Kalahandi, one of the backward districts of Odisha, would be included in the Centre’s new rural development scheme, Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY).
This was revealed by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda during a visit to Kalahandi district on Monday. In order to further strengthen welfare schemes in backward rural areas, the PMAAY would ensure that the programmes and schemes of all the ministries of the Central government are implemented in close coordination, he said.
Stating that the Centre would extend all possible support to the state government for implementation of the scheme, Munda told the Central and state officials to meet the beneficiaries on field visits, find the loopholes in the process of execution of the schemes and take steps to find solutions.
The minister said total 740 Ekalavya Vidyalayas are being constructed across the country and efforts are on to improve the quality of learning. He also reviewed the Aspirational District Programme of the NITI Aayog.
He met a self-help group of the Kutia Kondh community and visited a government school in Bhatangpadar and enquired about the facilities provided there.
