Bhubaneswar: This year, KIIT International Model United Nations (MUN) Conference will be held online from December 17 to 19.
The prime focus of this year’s MUN will be on the pandemic. The three-day event will comprise lively conversations, extensive research, online cultural shows and stand-up comedy.
About 10 committees will be constituted this year, including United Nations General Assembly Disarmament and International Security Committee, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, World Health Assembly, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Security Council, among others, varsity sources said.
The agendas include ‘prevention of arms race in outer space’; emphasizing and normalizing the issue of mental health in the wake of the pandemic; enhancing the quality and accessibility of digital education and remote learning, Afghan peace summit 2022, economic empowerment of women, among other topics.
One of the largest simulations of the United Nations, KIIT MUN was started in 2013. In 2016, it had witnessed the highest footfall of about 2,500 delegates.
