Ganjam: A 28-year old woman who was placed in a COVID-19 quarantine centre under Beguniapada block in Ganjam district on May 6 after her return from Surat, gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday.
Sources said ASHA and Anganwadi workers who were on duty helped in the normal and smooth delivery before doctors and paramedical staff reached the quarantine centre. The mother and baby were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, said B Pradhan Beguniapada Block Development Officer (BDO).
The condition of both the mother and child was said to be good.
Doctors from CHC Kodala were regularly examining her health condition ever since she was placed under quarantine. The woman, however, did not tell them the expected date of delivery.
