Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) located Odisha capital achieved a milestone in 2025 by registering its highest ever annual visitor count.
Zoo authorities announced on Thursday that a total of 40,20,539 people visited the park during the year. The revenue collected from all sources was over Rs 23.23 crore, the highest so far.
Of the total footfall, 38,43,028 visitors explored Nandankanan itself, while 1,77,511 toured the adjoining State Botanical Garden. The combined figure surpasses the 37,99,632 visitors recorded in 2024, marking a significant year-on-year growth.
Revenue generated from all sources in 2025 stood at Rs 23.23 crore, an increase of Rs 1.06 crore compared to 2024. Officials attributed the rise in both visitors and earnings to improved visitor facilities, effective management, and strong public support for NZP’s conservation, education, and eco-tourism initiatives.
Known for its rich biodiversity, Nandankanan is home to around 4,000 animals and birds across 160 species, including 48 species of mammals, 77 species of birds, 30 species of reptiles and 6 species of amphibians. Established in 1960, the zoo celebrated its 66th foundation day on December 29 and continues to be a major attraction for wildlife lovers and researchers.
