Bhubaneswar: After a long gap, the Nandankanan Zoological Park here will exchange animals with another zoo in the country.
According to sources, a six-member team from Nandankanan will travel to Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning in this regard. They will bring back two lionesses, three grey wolves, three gharials and one female fox from Kamala Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya, Indore.
In exchange, the city zoo will send one white tiger, one black tiger, three crocodiles, four silver pheasants and four golden pheasants to the Indore zoo.
However, the arrival of the team from Kamala Nehru zoo to take the animals has not been finalised as yet.
The Bhubaneswar zoo is also set to bring in a Himalayan black bear, wild dog and Assamese macaque from Aizawl Zoological Garden in Mizoram in January 2021.
Notably, the last time Nandankanan swapped animals and birds was on March 17, just before the COVID-19 lockdown was announced.
