Odisha’s Popular RJ Shabnam Dies of COVID-19
Bhubaneswar: Another young journalist and popular RJ of Radio 90.4 Voice of SOA Community Shabnam Shirin succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at AIIMS here.
The 38-year-old had tested positive for coronavirus a few days back and was in home isolation. She was admitted to AIIMS here after her condition deteriorated. She lost her battle with COVID-19 on Tuesday morning.
Her husband, who also contracted the virus, is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The couple has a minor daughter, Seenam Shirin.
She was working as programme executive-cum-RJ for Voice of SOA Community Radio 90.4 since 2018.
Sabnam was an active member of Community Radio and had pledged to work towards eliminating child marriage.
“Shabnam was an epitome of confidence, optimism, never say no to any project, cheerful, full of creative ideas and was always on the go. SOA Radio is devastated,” said Director at Radio 90.4 Voice of SOA Community, Honey Patnaik.
Prior to joining SOA she has worked with various media organisations, including Doordarshan, Kanak TV, STV and News7.
Shabnam’s death has left the media world in shock.
