Bhubaneswar: Odisha athlete Pragyan Prasanti Sahu delighted the big crowd at Kalinga Stadium as she cruised to victory in the Women’s 100m Hurdles at the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meet here on Sunday evening.
The 25-year-old from Balasore, who has mostly lived in the shadows of Jyothi Yarraji, cleared the hurdles smoothly to touch the finishing line in 13.74 seconds.Nandini Konghan of Tamil Nadu was a close second in 13.80 seconds, and Kerala’s Anjali C was third in 14 seconds.
Another local sprinter Lalu Prasad Bhoi narrowly missed out a podium finish as he came in fourth in Men’s 100m final. Bhoi clocked 10.54 seconds, just behind bronze-medallist Danish Iftikhar (10.50). Another Malaysian Muhammad Azeem stopped the clock at 10.35 to clinch gold, while Sri Lanka’s Chamod (10.43) bagged silver.
Srabani Nanda could only manage fifth place in Women’s 100m, clocking 11.86 seconds.
