New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s master puppeteer Maguni Charan Kuanr received the prestigious Padma Shri from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Wednesday.
86-year-old Kuanr was presented the award at a civil investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Kuar, an exponent of the Kathi Kundhei nacha, has been conferred Padma Shri for the year 2023 for his contribution in the field of art.
According to sources, three others from Odisha, who have been selected for Padma Shri for 2023, will receive the award from President Murmu on April 5. They are Krishna Patel for art, Antaryami Mishra for literature and education, and Patayat Sahu for agriculture.

On Wednesday, the President conferred 52 Padma Awards for the year 2023, at the Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She conferred two Padma Vibhushan, four Padma Bhushan, and 46 Padma Shri awards.
President Murmu presented Padma Vibhushan to S M Krishna in the field of Public Affairs. Padma Vibhushan was also conferred on Prof Balkrishna Doshi (Posthumously) in the field of Architecture.
