Rourkela: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has bagged the coveted ENCON Award 2020 of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Eastern Region for excellence in energy conservation in the large scale category.
The competition for the award was held on a virtual platform by CII on September 14. BP Pandey AGM and SC Nayak, Assistant Manager from the Energy Management Department (EMD) represented RSP in the competition. The RSP was awarded the 4 Star Certificate in the event.
The steel plant has received the awards towards reduction in carbon emission and environment concerns as per the set norms. In 2019-20, the RSP achieved best ever specific energy consumption.
Notably, CII confers the awards on organisations both in manufacturing and service sectors in recognition of their systematic, commendable and intensive efforts for efficient utilisation as well as conservation of energy. The assessed companies are awarded star rating based on their performance with respect to meeting all statutory requirements with a highest rating of 5 Star.
